Meet Mike McIntyre — The Man Behind Rental Brothers

Mike McIntyre is a contractor, a hockey coach, a football coach, and a father whohas spent his working life in Southern Ontario. When he is not running a crewon a foundation repair project, he is on the ice coaching kids or on thesidelines at a football field. The community he lives in is not just where hedoes business — it is where he coaches, where his kids go to school, and wherehe plans to stay.

Thatmatters, because it shapes everything about how Rental Brothers works. Mike didnot build this business to extract value from a market and move on. He built itto serve the same contractors, tradespeople, and hard-working people he hasbeen neighbours with his whole career. When a local contractor calls to askabout renting a Kubota for a residential project, Mike answers — and he knowswhat they are talking about because he has run that same machine on that samekind of job.

Foundation Brothers — Built on the Belief That Good Work Requires the Right Equipment

Foundation Brothers is Mike's primary business — a Southern Ontario foundation repair company that repairs structural concrete in residential basements, undergroundparking garages, condominiums, and older homes. It is hands-on, skilled tradework that requires precision, experienced crews, and equipment that shows upand performs every single time.

The foundation?

Early in building Foundation Brothers, Mike faced a decision that every growing contractor faces: keep renting equipment and hope it is available when you need it, or buy your own fleet and control your own schedule. For foundation repair, that decision was clear. When a structural excavation is open, a homeowner's basement is exposed, and a project timeline is running — the last thing you can afford is a phone call from a rental yard telling you the machine you booked is not available. Mike bought his own fleet. Then he bought more. Over time, Foundation Brothers built one of the most capable contractor equipment collections in Southern Ontario — Kubota mini excavators, compact track loaders, machine float trailers, hydraulic attachments, concrete tools, and more. Every piece of it purchased, operated, and maintained by Mike's own team.

When Your Equipment Costs Millions — Idle Time Is Not an Option

Hereis the reality of owning a contractor fleet: the equipment does not work everyday. Foundation Brothers runs structured projects — there are busy stretchesand there are gaps between jobs. During those gaps, the machines sit in the yard in Otterville. Kubota excavators. SVL-70 track skid steers. Machine float trailers. Concrete chainsaws. Generators. All of it sitting, depreciating, costing money to insure and maintain — and producing nothing.
Mike looked at that yard and saw the problem the same way he sees every problem on ajob site: practically. The equipment is here. It is well-maintained. Other contractors need it. The solution was obvious. Put it to work.

A Win for Local Contractors. A Win for the Equipment. A Win for the Community.

"I am excited about this because it is genuinely good foreveryone. A local contractor gets access to equipment they could not otherwiseafford to own. My machines get used instead of sitting idle. And the communityI coach in and care about gets more capable local contractors who can take onbetter work. That is a real win-win — and those are hard to find."

— Mike McIntyre, Founder, Rental Brothers & Foundation Brothers

The contractors Mike wants to rent to are not strangers. They are the same trades people who coach the same sports, send their kids to the same schools, and work in the same communities. A local plumber who needs an excavator for a drainage project. A deck contractor who needs a drive head for helical piles. A landscaper who needs a track skid steer for a spring grading job. These are qualified, skilled people who know how to operate equipment and take pride indoing their work properly.

When Mike rents a machine to a local contractor, that contractor can take on aproject they might otherwise have had to pass on or subcontract out. They dobetter work. They build a better business. And Mike's equipment — which would otherwise sit idle — generates value instead of depreciating in a yard. The business case is straight forward. But for Mike, the more important part issimpler: it helps people he knows do their jobs better. That is worth gettingup for.

Who We Rent To — Contractors Who Respect Good Equipment

Rental Brothers is not a tool library. The equipment in Mike's yard is the same equipment Foundation Brothers depends on for its own work. It is notexpendable. It is not disposable. It is a working contractor fleet that ismaintained to a professional standard and expected to come back in the samecondition it left.

Mike rents to qualified local contractors, experienced trades people, and serious owner-operators who understand what it means to work with contractor-grademachinery. If you treat equipment the way you want your own tools treated —with respect, with care, with the basic competence the job requires — you are exactly who Rental Brothers was built for. If you have any questions about whether a machine is right for your project before you book, call the yard. Mike or one of his crew will answer, and they will give you a straight answer.
